My Bird Cage Design

As an animal lover, I always want to find ways to improve animals’ lives. I own two birds and had the idea of making my own cage after my mom began complaining about how messy birds are and how difficult it is to transport them. Birds are dirty animals, and they require constant cleaning and minimal stressors in their environment. The birdcage that we bought was big, but it was hard to clean at the bottom, and most of the time the doors would get stuck when we tried to change their food. Their water and feeder also became dirty from the birds' poop, and algae began to form on the water. Given these flaws, I decided to take matters into my own hands and make the cage more practical without causing any stress to the birds. I had to consider various factors, both practical and aesthetic, and ensure it was user-friendly. This sparked the realization that being a good designer means I have to become a reasonable observer as well. To fix these flaws, I designed a cage with a cleaning mechanism at the bottom, including a water filter and a rotatable sponge, to clean the cage's bottom. I incorporated miniature vacuums to clean the top and the area around the cage. The doors are motion-sensing to prevent the birds from escaping the cage at unnecessary times. The cage itself is height- and size-adjustable, making it easier to transport the birds. It also comes with two complementary water and food feeders. The water has a filter to keep it fresh and clean, preventing algae from building up. The food also comes with a miniature mill that rotates the uneaten food to the top, so the birds don't have to dig for it.
